Description

Vitiligo is an autoimmune skin disease in which there is progressive destruction of the skin’s pigment-producing cells (melanocytes), resulting in areas of otherwise normal white skin devoid of melanin pigment. It is not unusual for hairs growing in areas of vitiligo to lose their normal color. Vitiligo may affect the personality of the person as they are highly noticeable coz of these patches and some cases of depression also noted in the past due to this. As a Dermatologist how you can help those patients?
Although most cases of vitiligo seem to occur sporadically, as many as 20% of affected individuals seem to have a family history of this disease. For treating vitiligo on any patient there is some parameter like patient selection, History of Vitiligo or any other medical history and some Investigations part also takes place before proceeding.
